Founding of Tsio Hai

Part 1 of Building Our School: How the Tsio Hai Waldorf Co-learning Community Began

By Huang Ching-Feng

Emphasizing human spirituality, the realm of the spirit, and the pursuit of Truth, Beauty, and Goodness alongside inner human freedom, Waldorf education has planted countless seeds of hope across Hsinchu, thanks to the dedicated promotion of Professor Lin Li-Chen.

Part 2 of Building Our School: The Purpose of a Waldorf School

By Huang Ching-Feng

On opening day, Professor Cheng Hong-Fei offered the following dedication to the school:

Our school is born! This school is the fruit of pure-hearted locals coming together—pooling their wisdom and strength for their own children, as well as for the children of others. It will be a school filled with love, lovingly guarded by generation after generation of caring adults. Our school will nourish not only the lives of our children, but will also reach back to nourish the lives of adults, making the world a better place. This is the very purpose of our school’s existence.

Part 3 of Building Our School: We Cannot Change the World Unless We Change Ourselves First

By Huang Ching-Feng

Reminded of the movie 3 Idiots, this world needs fools—and we are a group of fools, foolishly believing that we could change the world. After all these years, we have finally learned that we cannot change the world unless we change ourselves first.

Part 4 of Building Our School: Wandering Children, Wandering School

By Huang Ching-Feng

This group of people simply longed for a different kind of education and the freedom to choose how their children learn. Through this education, they envisioned a more ideal, natural lifestyle—one that lives in harmony with both humanity and the earth.

Part 5 of Building Our School: Building a School Is More Than Just Building a School

By Huang Ching-Feng

This is a revolution—a fundamental revolution, from education to our environment… If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together. I have always believed this deeply. A good education, like a magnet, naturally draws together people who share a common goodness. Of course, none of us is perfect, but together, we can strive toward perfection.

A Brief History of Our Founding

In the spring of 2010, a group of mothers who envisioned a different future for their children began an alternative learning journey inside a tin-roofed house in Baoshan’s Kezihu. This marked the very beginning of Tsio Hai.

Our Name & History

In 2010, thirteen families alongside supporters of Waldorf education gathered in the Hsinchu area. With their children’s future work and life in mind, and driven by the urgent need for an education suited to their children’s true nature, they decided to establish the Kezihu Waldorf Co-Learning Center near Baoshan Reservoir.
